Hi!

My name is Maddie Azevedo, and I'm the owner of Angel and Iris!

The name Angel and Iris comes from both sets of my grandparents. Angel came from my mother's parents, who have called me their angel since the day I was born. Iris came from my father's parents, who owned a large biblical garden and even cultivated their own species of irises. Naming my business after them felt like the perfect way to honor the people who have shaped my life.

I started my business in 2023 creating cups, bookmarks, and keychains. As the business grew, so did my vision for what it could become. Today, Angel and Iris has been fully reimagined as a bookish business built around sharing the joy of reading with others.

Outside of my business, I am a wife to Kenneth and a proud pet mom to my dogs, Adelaide and Rex, and my cats, Mischief and Theo. I've been a lifelong bookworm - so much so that my family has called me "The Reader" for as long as I can remember. When I'm not reading or working on Angel and Iris, I'm part of the management team at my retail job, working toward my notary license, and finishing college with dual licensure in elementary education and special education (I want to be Barbie with all the careers).

Angel and Iris is one of the most meaningful parts of my life. It has given me a sense of purpose, introduced me to incredible people, and allowed me to build something I truly love. I am endlessly grateful to my family, friends, and especially my husband for encouraging me to take the leap and supporting me every step of the way.

Thank you for supporting my small business and being part of this journey. This is only the beginning, and I can't wait to see where Angel and Iris goes from here (hopefully a brick and mortar bookstore).
